SCHOLARSHIPS
The Junior League of
McAllen selects fifteen qualified seniors from McAllen
Independent School District every year
to each receive a $2,000 College Scholarship
based on academic excellence, school activities, community
service,
recommendations and a personal essay. Additionally, $1,000 is divided each year among select graduating students
who have
given their time and talents to serve
as attorneys, court clerks, bailiffs and jurors for the Teen Court
program.
The Junior League of McAllen also grants a scholarship every year to
each delegate from McAllen to Girls
State.

TEEN COURT COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP
2009 RECIPIENTS
Walter F. Fick and Alyssa G. Loya, who both volunteered
their time for Teen Court, each received a $500 scholarship for
college in 2009.
Teen Court
allows volunteers to better understand our system of justice and serves
hundreds of teens each year. Teen Court is a legally binding
alternative system of justice that offers young offenders an opportunity
to make restitution for their offenses through community service,
educational classes, and jury service.
