PRESIDENT’S
MESSAGE |
I am so excited and honored to be the
President of Junior League of McAllen.
It is amazing the vision that women had over 70 years ago which is
evident through our history. From
1938 and the establishment of the Milk Fund to the hands-on placements
that we continue to volunteer our time with today, we have made incredible
changes and improved many children’s lives in our community.
We each have a dream for this organization and when we believe in
our dreams we achieve them through our teamwork.
Our member’s commitment to Palmer
Drug Abuse (PDAP) Special People Program, Arts in Medicine (AIM) at Vannie
E. Cook Children’s Hematology and Oncology Clinic and Bully Talk through
McAllen Independent School District is evident through our voluntarism.
Our 7th Annual Children’s Art & Literacy Festival has
positively impacted the children in our community and I look for its
continued success this year.
The women serving on our Board of
Directors are a devoted and caring group who give unselfishly of their
time. I am grateful for their
support and knowledge to continue our mission to improve our community and
our league.
Dias Festivos Marketplace (DFM)
continues this year with “Christmas Around the World”.
Between DFM, our sponsorship campaign organized by our Resource
Development Committee and our Cookbook committee we will continue to raise
funds to be able to give back money through the Educational Enhancement
Fund, Community Assistance Fund, our ABC Grants and Scholarships.
Through the Community Research Committee we explore the community
to identify and fulfill the current needs.
The women dedicated to our Public
Relations and Publications committees provide our community with our
accomplishments and our unyielding vision to our mission.
As we fulfill our mission statement we also strive to develop the
potential of women. Our
members through their personal growth exemplify the success of the women
in our organization.
I welcome our new Provisional Class.
I hope you will meet and develop many lasting friendships through
your involvement in this organization.
I also hope you will gain personal satisfaction through the lives
that you touch and the memories you create through the years.
Let us all look forward to fulfilling
the dreams of our league and believe that we can succeed because when you Dream
It, and Believe It, you can Achieve It.
Kristy Ochoa
