The Junior League of McAllen
was founded in 1938
and became affiliated with the
Association of Junior Leagues International in 1985.
The Junior League of McAllen, Inc. is an organization of
women
committed to promoting volunteerism and to improving the community
through the action and leadership of trained volunteers.
Our purpose is
exclusively educational and charitable.
We strive to proactively meet
critical needs of the McAllen community
either by initiating or
collaborating with community groups for positive solutions.
Our
volunteerism and financial grants are primarily concentrated
on
high-impact projects which fulfill our Vision Statement.
We welcome into
our organization women of all races,
religions and national origins who
exemplify a commitment to volunteerism.

The
Junior League of McAllen recently awarded Quinta Mazatlan,
McAllen Wing of the World Birding Center, a $50,000 grant for the
“Glassroom” Environmental Education Center.
The
City of McAllen will be designing the “Glassroom” to accomplish a number
of goals including the delivery of environmental science programs with a
fully equipped room for school children, summer camps and adult education.The building will showcase energy and environmental designs.Features will include rainwater collection, solar panels, special
lighting and insulation, reuse of old materials from the existing greenhouse
and more.
